Keep Personalising – Blogging 101

Hi Folks, Felt quite relieved this morning when I noticed what the assignment for today was – personalise your blog with headers and widgets. I had already changed my header so thought easy peasy, a couple of widgets to add and I’m laughing. Well…that wasn’t the case. I tried and tried to put all the follow buttons for social media on each post. Easy enough?? I’m afraid not. Okay, I thought, I’ll do something really simple – I’ll put some new categories on my menu…did it and pressed to publish and……..Nothing!!

It’s showing up in my stats as sharing but not on my site. Maybe it just takes time to show up. Anyway, I thought, I’ll add some Cheezy Choons to cheer you all up, some real good blasts from the past, you know – all the songs from Bridget Jones’ Diary (well I did call it Cheezy!) and all I got was a title.

Anyway two bars of chocolate, a trim of my moustache and a large glass of wine later, it doesn’t seem to matter as much. I’m still proud of my blog – but damn it, I want those widgets so badly.

If at first you don’t succeed, have some more choccy and head off to bed! Goodnight Folks πŸ™‚

Don’t sweat the widgets. They’ll come with time and practice. Most of the technical stuff is just a matter of playing around with it and seeing what happens.
The writing is going to get you a lot farther in blogging than fancy code. And in the writing department you’re doing just fine!
    Cheers!

I have given up wine, but a little chocolate makes every day better. Today it was a really rich chocolate cake. Usually it is ice cream.

The first theme I chose gave me so much trouble with widgets, but I really liked the theme and I was determined to stick with it. Then we had the assignment to try other themes. I switched to The Sunspot Theme. It is so easy to use widgets on that theme. It doesn’t have a large header, but the little header can use random pictures, so it can change or not – personal preference. Anyway, good luck getting your widgets to work.

I ran into the same question and I from what I understand the categories will show up in your menu once you add posts to that category. Good luck, hope that works! Your blog’s looking really nice πŸ™‚

Why is it we always trim out mustaches when in dire straits lol
I always found googling any problem I had useful. Chances are someone, somewhere has written a thing about the thing you’re having the problem with….if you catch my drift!

Yes well one good thing to come of it – my tash is looking grand! My widgets appear to be on, I think I have one of those trickster blogs who just play pranks on you all the time – the gremlins will be laughing their little heads off, but I’ll get them back – the little feckers πŸ™‚
